The EKWA Employment Readiness Training Program is designed to be adaptable and can be administered in various communities throughout Canada simultaneously. In addition to providing industry-specific training, we prioritize the development of essential soft skills and offer continuous mentorship to our participants. By promoting the overall well-being of each individual, we expect to have a far-reaching effect not only on the trainees but also with their peers, families, and respective communities. Our curriculum conforms to the entry-level proficiency standards recommended by the Canadian Association of Energy Contractors (CAOEC).
EKWA's Service Rig Edition Training Program is an innovative training program aimed at empowering Indigenous participants to build their skills and confidence to perform their job safely and effectively in the oil and gas industry. Our program's success lies in enhancing participant skills and fostering a supportive environment that builds their confidence to thrive in the workforce.
Our training program is focused on two primary objectives. The first objective is to enhance participants' skills and confidence, enabling them to perform their job safely and effectively in the oil and gas industry. The second objective focuses on preparing participants to adapt to a diverse workplace environment, equipping them with a combined skill set that will enable them to confidently engage in post-graduate employment opportunities, both on and off reserve.
Through our coaching, mentoring, and support, we aim to assist Indigenous trainees in securing meaningful and sustainable employment. Our goal is to enable them to maintain employment and enhance their quality of life by providing continuous mentoring and support.
Once a participant completes the program, we ensure that they are able to obtain employment and continue to receive long-term support from a designated mentor. The true worth of this program lies in producing and cultivating a skilled, dependable workforce that is readily available to fulfill critical roles and meet the needs of employers in the oil and gas industry, and community-based organizations.
We believe that our Service Rig Edition Training Program has the potential to create a significant and lasting impact on the Indigenous workforce, empowering individuals to achieve their full potential and contribute to a more prosperous and equitable society.
The EKWA Service Rig Edition Training Program is designed to provide Indigenous trainees with the necessary skills to secure meaningful and sustainable employment in the oil and gas industry. At the initial interview, both participants and their immediate families receive an overview of the program. We recognize that families are crucial sources of support, and their understanding of the program is vital to the trainees' commitment and retention.
The program is divided into two phases. The first phase is formal classroom instruction where we provide the necessary oil and gas industry credentials. Assuming that all prerequisites have been met, training will progress to a fully operational service rig and all supporting equipment. We offer practical instruction for all roles on a secure, stress-free platform within a Nation’s territory.
In addition to industry-specific training, we also offer a diverse Indigenous life skills program that we developed to supplement the social gaps that are often overlooked by other programs. The program emphasizes on-the-job safety, team building, and cultural sensitivity.
After graduation, we provide continued mentoring to assist graduates with any day-to-day conflicts and struggles that they may encounter either at work or in day-to-day life. Our objective is to cultivate a skilled and dependable workforce that is readily available to fulfill critical roles and needs of employers and community-based organizations.
